The reason is that the bristles can cause damage to other dishes and utensils that are being washed in the same load of dishes.
If you wash it in the dishwasher, the heated water and detergent used during the washing cycle will damage it. This will ruin the brush and make it less effective at cleaning dishes or other surfaces.
You can try placing your scrubbing brush on top of your kitchen counter instead of washing it in a dishwasher. The brushes should dry out fairly quickly on their own if they aren’t placed inside a wet sink or left sitting in standing water for a long period.
